FOOD DRIVE


Prospect Perk Café is teaming up with St. Augustine’s “Helping Hands Food Pantry” for a two-part food drive to help the not so fortunate ones within our community.

  • Part One of our Food Drive will end on Saturday, November 21, 2009. (5 days before Thanksgiving)
  • Second Part of our Drive will end on Monday, December 21, 2009. (4 days before Christmas)

    Anyone living in the zip codes of 11215, 11217 and 11238 is eligible to receive a bag of food once every four weeks. In 2008 an average of 630 men, women and children received emergency food supplies.

    YOU CAN HELP US BY DONATING MONEY OR FOOD (SEE LIST BELOW)

    Every little bit helps. Please help us help others as best as we can.

    Food List:

  • 1 LB Bag/boxes of pasta (Spaghetti, macaroni, etc.)
  • 15oz (approx.) canned vegetables.
  • 15oz (approx.) fruit. (Packed in light syrup).
  • 15oz (approx.) tomato sauce or diced tomatoes.
  • 15oz (approx.) canned Beef/Chicken Stew.
  • 5oz canned tuna in water.
  • Canned soup.

    Update #1:

    Friday-November 20, 2009. 5:00Pm. So far we have received $98.00 in cash and a number of food items donated by our community. Prospect Perk Cafe matched the cash donations 1-1 and brought the total up to $200.00. We even went further to strech our dollars and bought food items in BULK from a local wholesaler. (Please see image below!)



    Update #2:

    Tuesday-December 21, 2009 11:00Am. After another month of collecting money and food donations at Prospect Perk, today we ended our food drive for the holiday season. Once again we were able to raise $200.00 and with that money we purchased tomato sauce, soup, canned fruit and juice from a local wholesaler. (Please see image below!)
